Is anyone else sick of the pineapple thing? I really don't think it has anything to do with the murder. I think she was put to bed, woke up, got some pineapple, went back to bed. Or she ate it before the party.
No, I think the pineapple is everything. It's the one thing the parents didn't know happened and can't explain away with their intruder theory. I mean seriously. At first JR said he gave his keys to a few people. Then he started telling investigators he gave his house keys to everyone. He did the same with suspects--named anyone and everyone. He also brought up a mysterious van many months after the murder. If you watch their police interviews, they claim that anything collected from their house with Patsy's writing isn't hers--they don't know whose writing it could be. (I heard they use those videos at the FBI to show new agents what lying looks like.) There is only one reason the cops focused so intently on the Ramseys: it was obvious to them because of all the lies they were telling.
The trouble I have with the CBS show was that it felt like a magician doing a magic trick -- you only see what they wanted you to see, and you don't realize there is more being left out. They didn't show us the photo they showed to Burke. You saw how cluttered the kitchen counter was. There could have been any number of things to look at in that photo and it seemed to me that Burke was trying hard to figure out just what it was the investigator wanted him to look at. Did these experts also look at his school records which would likely document behavioral problems? They didn't say. I find it hard to believe they could tell all they did about from just from what was shown -- they didn't see the photo of that Burke was shown either. It's also a known fact that the BPD put out false information.
