Sure they can commit on 9/1 and not say a word you are 100% correct. The "issue" is that the timing of the announcement came during a shutdown period in which there is not supposed to be any contact between coaches and recruits.  I think the OP was just saying that it was just poor timing to announce it during a shutdown period not that anything inappropriate happened but someone went off the rails and projected that is what was being said.[/quote]
