Seems highly plausible.

What I really think has happened is the culmination of many factors, but overall Americans don't see government working for them so they think it's superfluous. Which is why the election/re-election of someone like Donald Trump is possible. I fear we may find out that government is actually important and that the relative ease of life in America isn't something that should be taken for granted.[/quote]

Which has been why the Biden strategy from Day 1 is to show that government can work for the people. Getting Vaccines out, lowering egg prices, unblocking the supply chains/ports etc, getting manufacturing going, bailing out banks and otherwise getting the economy going, people working, unemployment low, etc. The GOP ultimately wants an oligarch style dystopian state where the people are chattel in an ecological hellhole.[/quote]
