Good Lord.  She worked a demanding job for years and paid for that apartment HERSELF.  Is she supposed to work until she's in the grave?

Exactly. Working 100hour+ weeks for several decades can leave you without any time to reflect on who you really want to be, and what kind of life you really want. She never wanted to live in Brooklyn, agreed to it for her family's sake. Now her son is nearly grown and kind of an @sshole and she fell out of love with her husband (it appears to be mutual). She is allowed to want more out of her remaining decades than a life without vitality, purpose, romance and, yes, great sex.. Ffs she's 55 not 85 like Pp's grandma. [/quote]
