If McCarthy has acceded to the HFC demand of 3 seats on the Rules Committee then he has effectively signed the death warrant for his nascent speakership. The HFC will control everything coming to the floor for a vote including, most importantly, appropriations and the debt ceiling. Everything can be ground to a halt. They can now burn it all down by a debt default. His transformation into a modern day political Reek is now fully realized. It’s the pound of flesh extracted from McCarthy’s backside for the final straw: passage of the $1.7T Omnibus, which defeated their goal of more tax cuts for the wealthy and gutting government entitlements and other spending. And if they get outmaneuvered in Cimmittee then they come headhunting with a motion to vacate. [/quote]
