Video of today's work session (almost 3 hours in length) is now posted. http://youtu.be/JNS39yDmzCE
What is condensed version?
Only thing close to a done deal is Poplar Tree and Greenbriar West.
Can someone please explain what is decided about Poplar Tree and GBW?
Nothing is decided yet. The only thing close -- and it is NOT decided yet -- is a new AAP Center at Poplar Tree, which would relieve some of the overcrowding at Greenbriar West. IF this happens (and no one knows yet as it is not decided), the new AAP Center at Poplar Tree would be in place for 2015-2016 school year (September 2015). I am guessing there would be some sort of grandfathering for current 5th graders at Greenbriar West with Poplar Tree as their base school. But no one knows yet.
Does anyone know why they don't think about making Colin Powell a center instead as Poplar Tree and keep Poplar Tree AAP kids in GBW since it is closer to GBW and busing is easier than Colin Powell?
They identified that as a potential option as well, but Powell already has a big enrollment (almost 960 kids this year) whereas Poplar Tree is under 600.
