I live in a W district but I don't know how parents are treating this process because we are not currently at our public ES and I haven't talked about applying with our neighbors.  We didn't prep and are ok if our child "misses out".  We think it would be a great experience if child is accepted though.

To me, I'd think it would be families outside of the W districts that would have more at stake in the HGC process if they felt that their schools were not up to par and that the HGC would make a big difference in comparison.  It wouldn't seem unreasonable to me that a family with enough financial resources in such a district might want to invest as much as possible to help their child get to the HGC.

But who knows?  There are plenty of competitive parents in the W's....[/quote]
