. . . you are mistaken if you believe McLean is "almost exclusively white." . . . some parts of McLean have up to a 40% minority population.
I was following a recent thread in the VA Public Schools forum schools that discussed diversity in FFC. If you are looking for a diverse community, McLean is a multi-ethnic and diverse city in Fairfax County according to the posters in that thread (quoted above).
I'm the Turkey Run (McLean) poster from earlier. McLean is quite white. Not sure where they get 40% minority population. My DH is AA, and he always jokes that it's pretty much him, Colin Powell, and 1 of the Redskins. (oh, and our kids....) There is a lot of diversity in terms of nationality, though. White alone - 36,273 (75.4%) Asian alone - 7,156 (14.9%) Hispanic - 2,335 (4.9%) Two or more races - 1,293 (2.7%) Black alone - 851 (1.8%) Other race alone - 145 (0.3%) American Indian alone - 48 (0.10%) Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander
Quote from today's Real Estate forum on a thread about Fairfax County.
