SEAD is a pretty large division that manages a lot within DCPS...Things that fall under the purview of SEAD includes, all of the school counselors, all of NAF/CTE Programs, all College related things including dual enrollment, SAT, school based college applications, graduation progress for schools, JROTC, Athletics, scheduling, student engagement, programs like credit recovery and twilight, 9th grad academies...I'd imagine providing oversight over all of these things would be great preparation to lead a school after several years of serving as an assistant principal at another application high school.[/quote]

This is helpful context, thanks. Part of the problem is that SEAD is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE name for a department and is totally unintelligible for people who don't live and breathe DCPS central office. I'm going to reframe it in my head as "academics and social emotional development." And I hope she is good for Walls - the school could really use a thoughtful, capable leader with some vision.[/quote]
