Yup, as the racists in these comments prove, hate and weaponized ignorance are on the rise against Jews, women, and other traditional scapegoats. The irony is that in the long-term this bigotry creates more Zionists. Lean into community, have frank discussions with your kids about these and other dark times in Jewish/American history, bear witness and hold the bigots accountable, that’s all you can do, really. There are pros and cons of all cults/religions. It’s the tunnel vision, forced or voluntary conformity, irrational groupthink mentality. It’s the learned superiority, fear, and/or skepticism and fear again of individuals outside of the group. Lots and lots of unsubstantiated fear of outsiders. It happens in most or every religion to some extent. Rather than focus on what makes all humans alike and try to bridge the gap, religions only seem to obsess with differences, keeping individuals closed in and away from perceived ‘dangerous’ outside forces. It happens in all religions. Go to Utah and see how insane Mormons are, or Evangelicals or Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s insanity and it is noteworthy how some religions and cults are freely open to criticism while to criticize and point out faults with others is strictly forbidden. [/quote]
