Just read about two lectures by physicians getting cancelled by ATA and APA due to intimidation by anti-Palestinian folks. That's as bad as antisemitism.

Or, if you don't trust that site, you can read his Wikipedia entry. Marr founded a group he called the League of Antisemites in an attempt to fight the threat of Jews within Germany: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Marr

OP is likely not a troll. Her fear is warranted. As Jerry Seinfeld said after Oct. 7, we were so grateful to be in the US, it could never happen here. But here we are. An undeniable undercurrent of hate, as demonstrated by so many of these comments. You may say it’s Israel you hate, but every synagogue has had a police car outside of it for as long as I can remember - decades, and it didn’t matter who was in power in Israel, left or right, and even after it gave complete autonomy to Palestine in 2005. That said, Europe is much worse. My relatives who lived all their lives in the UK (London and Manchester) have now left for Israel as the anti-semitism has become unbearable.

The synagogues that need police protection are because some of them engage in “The Great Israeli Real Estate Event” where they auction off land that belong to Palestinians. Naturally there are going to be protests. No one here has said anything against the Jewish religion, I’m so proud when I see Jewish people engaged in protests against Israel because they are so brave. They are called fake news or worse by their own people, now that’s antisemitic.

Well, no. My synagogue has had police protection since long before the Gaza war began (and our rabbis have been quite critical of the Israeli government since before then, too). We installed permanent metal detectors after someone murdered Jews at a synagogue in Pittsburgh motivated by nothing that had anything to do with Israel at all. And there’s never been an auction of Palestinian land — or any land in Israel, for that matter — there at all.

I think OP is wrong on the facts about the war and about the Kristof column and overly dramatic about the climate for Jews in America, but please don’t try to tell us that the ONLY reason American Jews need security is because of Israel.

Of course, but please realize, Jews are not the only group that needs security at their places of worship in America- please refer to the recent shooting at the Mosque in San Diego. The issue is, zionists believe that they are the only victims and are the only ones entitled to security, and in order to achieve said "security" they must annihilate innocent people in droves (aka genocide).

No one said only Jews need security. And somehow it only took you two sentences to go from “a synagogue in D.C. needs police protection for reasons unrelated to Gaza” to “Zionists commit genocide because they imagine security threats.”

It is noteworthy also that no other American religion/ethnic group/cult really has an anti- ism. We hear about racism, sexism, ageism, and antisemitism. The other anti- isms all encompass huge dynamic groups of people from differing backgrounds. What is antisemitism exactly?

It's basically a form of racism, but if you have a problem with the term, blame the non-Jewish German who came up with it to describe the more organized ideology he thought was necessary to stop Jews, Wilhelm Marr: https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/where-the-word-anti-semitism-comes-from/

To add, the definitions of Jewish or Judaism or Israeli or Zionist seems intentionally or unintentionally overlapping and nebulous at best. Anyone who coverts to Judaism cannot be an ethnic jew ever. So they are only a person who practices Judaism not an ethnic Jew and therefore have zero right to claim Israel as their homeland. It’s like if anyone can become Jewish, who is a Jew at this point?

NYT publishes response to criticisms of Kristof’s article and proves that it is well sourced: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/21/opinion/kristof-palestinian-sexual-assault.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

And why is any criticism of Israel deemed Antisemetic?

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.

Yup, as the racists in these comments prove, hate and weaponized ignorance are on the rise against Jews, women, and other traditional scapegoats. The irony is that in the long-term this bigotry creates more Zionists. Lean into community, have frank discussions with your kids about these and other dark times in Jewish/American history, bear witness and hold the bigots accountable, that’s all you can do, really.

There will always be many more people who are not Zionists than actual Zionists in the world. Zionists are not welcome in many parts of the world now. But continue to wallow in your victim hood - no one cares!

Amen. I'm so tired of these people and their faux victimhood.

+1. It is long past time for some introspection about why there is dislike of the behavior of a certain group of people.

Which group do you mean, specifically?

anyone with behavior that harms another human being in any way. You do the math.

There are pros and cons of all cults/religions. It’s the tunnel vision, forced or voluntary conformity, irrational groupthink mentality. It’s the learned superiority, fear, and/or skepticism and fear again of individuals outside of the group. Lots and lots of unsubstantiated fear of outsiders. It happens in most or every religion to some extent. Rather than focus on what makes all humans alike and try to bridge the gap, religions only seem to obsess with differences, keeping individuals closed in and away from perceived ‘dangerous’ outside forces. It happens in all religions. Go to Utah and see how insane Mormons are, or Evangelicals or Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s insanity and it is noteworthy how some religions and cults are freely open to criticism while to criticize and point out faults with others is strictly forbidden.

Antizionism is a hate movement.

Hate against who? Most zionists are Christian.

These are cults. Christianity, zionism, Zoroastrianism, mormonism, etc. The sooner we realize we are dealing with huge cults, the better off we will be. It’s the blind conformity and groupthink which is a very dangerous thing.

+10 MILLION. Thank you for this. As a cult expert, this has been apparent to me for a long time. We are living the ultimate harm of these kinds of groups, and my work focuses on bringing the harm of indoctrination to light.

Zionists. How is this not obvious from context.
