In-state alum PP and I'm delighted that my kid will be able to communicate his 1st choice without putting a bunch of platitudes into his "Why Michigan" essay.  Can you imagine how trite those reasons are for in-staters?

He will likely be applying to Engineering and there are no guarantees.

We are not Michigan natives and are conscious that the University of Michigan is the most nationally-known school here.  It's also a great fit for what our family expects from a college education (which has nothing to do with football or frats).  The closest equivalents in DMV would be UMD, VA, VT but there's no need to go so far and pay more.[/quote]
