8th grade has 36 kids. Has added kids over the years, not lost.
It’s very class dependent. There have been graduating classes of 30. But generally middle school is smaller. Their target size in elementary is larger than 36.
It is incorrect that their elementary target is 36. They have historically been a two homeroom elementary school, with each homeroom having between 13 and 15 kids, so target size is 26-30. During Covid, in order to have less individuals in each room, they expanded many grades to three homerooms, each a bit smaller, and as such they were overall able to accommodate more students per grade. The school’s mission, though, is to return to having only two homerooms per elementary grade. As is the case with most private schools due to their smaller size, grades are very cohort dependent, and some grades are more cohesive than others. A lot will depend on your individual kid. We have been very happy with our current middle schooler’s experience.
Thank you - excellent thread!
