I've decided to apply for dual citizenship with another country, not for myself, but for my children. They need to have options.
Do you know anything about how to do this? You don't just "apply for dual citizenship with another country" for your children.
Most, if not all, civilized 1st world countries have rigid citizenship eligibility requirements that include having multiple years of residency within the country already under your belt. We're discussing a complex concept with people that thought it was wise to elect Trump and Biden so this could take a while.
The ignorance and arrogance I'm seeing here is breathtaking. "I'm just gonna apply for dual citizenship! I have monies for invest!"
Nobody said that. You guys are arguing with a concept that only exists in your own mind. Many countries offer citizenship if you can prove close family heritage OR you can also buy a citizenship with enough money.
You cannot "buy a citizenship" anywhere. Yes, there are ways to live in another country if you have enough money. But many of them, Portugal for example, are changing their rules because Americans have abused them. And countries do not "offer citizenship" based on heritage. You still must apply for it. Like I said, ignorance and arrogance. As American as apple pie.
Spain was giving it away with any $500,000 plus real estate purchase not too long ago. Could still be in effect.
