FAANG companies do this and it has the exact effect you speak of. Sure people who are retained move past it enough to keep working but it is certainly a contributing factor in turnover and burnout.[/quote] FAANG fires people. They allow you to apply for other jobs but they don't change your job. They are firing managers right now and laying off via the RTO.[/quote] "Firing" is an ambiguous term and is best avoided. ”Layoffs” are different from "firing for cause". Amazon loves firing constantly. Others do layoffs. [/quote]
