Don't worry.  The only public DC school she was interested in is Yu Ying.  She has a well-known Chinese voice and isn't interested in any school that doesn't take Chinese seriously.  I've heard she's at a high-profile private, and I hope she, and her child, and the family in general are happy there.  The school is lucky to have them.[/quote]

NP.  There's another school that teaches Chinese and not in a once or twice a week enrichment class for younger kids?   Please share. Would love to know the school if we don't get into YY.  Thanks![/quote]

WIS.  ~30K per year.  Bilingual programs in Spanish, French, and Dutch in the elementary years.  Chinese is an option for middle school.  The aforementioned parent is professionally recognized for her Mandarin, her child won't get to officially study Chinese until 6th grade, but the at-home instruction will be top-notch.  Her expertise is unfortunately lost to both the Yu Ying community and the WIS community (which doesn't value Chinese highly enough to offer it in the elementary grades).
