People saying that Dave was misquoted – well you can watch the clip for yourself. Why did he even try to compare one concert to another, why even bring Taylor up in the middle of your own concert – but anyway if there’s something that’s been misconstrued….Why hasn’t he spoken out and just be like move on guys nothing here?
Why is TS at the peak of the music world immune from a competitive snipe? Why?
What? Your take is that its ok for a grown man to spread a false narrative/dig about a fellow artist because the female performer at the peak of the music world? There is absolutely no competition between Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift. Completely different markets and they both sold out a show on the same night same city. This is not a "competitive snipe".
Yeah it was- he was contrasting his show with the biggest show in the business. And he didn’t spread a false rumor. Did he tweet this? Include an Easter egg in his song for hit his grohlies to take down TS? No the press blasted this. He made one comment during his show.
This. The fact that Grohl mentioned Swift in this way is actually a compliment to her success. This thin-skinned crying foul because he ribbed her a bit instead of sticking to glowing compliments (which not have been consistent with his onstage persona, which is jokey, a bit sardonic, self-deprecating) is tiresome. Some of you are taking this way more personally than it was meant for some reason. He made a pun. Grow up.
Yup. Most people complaining about this have not been to a Foo show. Self-depreciating off-the-cuff jokes and comments are pretty norm for him. It's just amazing how triggered the TS fans get
Saying that you make mistakes because you do things better (play live) is not exactly self-deprecating. As others have said, she’s defending her band- I don’t know why people think this is a bad thing.
Did he say it was better? Or is that a judgement you are making about the comment? No one said he did things better- except you.
You would have to be pretty dense to not read the statement as a veiled insult.
But. She. Does. It. Her band and dancing is all live. The vocals not all of them. How is that insulting exactly?
The hilarious thing here is that he was making a joke about the *fact* that Swift uses backing vocals during her shows (while Foo Fighers do not and you are hearing a truly live and singular performance when you see them which is something worth bragging about -- it's awesome) but Swift and her fans are like "how DARE he insult Taylor's band. Uh... he didn't. He knows they play live. It's possible he knows them because that's not a huge world and Grohl has been around for a long time. Foo Fighters are like his 19th or 20th band. The first Foo Fighter album was literally just Grohl recording a whole ass album by himself playing all the instruments and doing the vocals alone as a way to get through his grief after Kurt Cobain's suicide. Then he formed a band and called it the Foo Fighters. Grohl is one of the realest mofos in music and he gets to be proud of that and if he wants to make a joke about TSwift using backing vocals on Eras (which she obviously does) I Do. Not. Care. Team Dave forever. Taylor is a billionaire with a million Grammys. Somehow she'll get through this trying time  .
Taylor Swift and company are master manipulators. I always supported her despite not really liking her music. I thought she handled some of the knocks thrown at her well andwas glad she continued to find her place. I supported her until I read about the way she manipulates her life story and songs to attack various people in her life. She's willing led her rabid fans to assume some of the guys she was associated with were abusive. Someone published a time line of her songs and events in her life and showed how she used people to garner sympathy and increase sales. Again, Taylor Swift is a master manipulator.
This is true. Do I like her songs? Yes. But who cares about breakups and stuff. I don't even know who her songs are about. Nobody else should either. But she makes sure everyone does, so like you say, that is pretty sucky and horrible. And her fans are the worst. Her fans make Philly fans look good.
