There is absolutely no competition between Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift. Completely different markets and they both sold out a show on the same night same city. This is not a "competitive snipe".
Yeah it was- he was contrasting his show with the biggest show in the business.
And he didn’t spread a false rumor. Did he tweet this? Include an Easter egg in his song for hit his grohlies to take down TS?
No the press blasted this. He made one comment during his show.
This. The fact that Grohl mentioned Swift in this way is actually a compliment to her success. This thin-skinned crying foul because he ribbed her a bit instead of sticking to glowing compliments (which not have been consistent with his onstage persona, which is jokey, a bit sardonic, self-deprecating) is tiresome.
Some of you are taking this way more personally than it was meant for some reason. He made a pun. Grow up.
Yup. Most people complaining about this have not been to a Foo show. Self-depreciating off-the-cuff jokes and comments are pretty norm for him.

Saying that you make mistakes because you do things better (play live) is not exactly self-deprecating. As others have said, she’s defending her band- I don’t know why people think this is a bad thing.
Did he say it was better? Or is that a judgement you are making about the comment? No one said he did things better- except you.
You would have to be pretty dense to not read the statement as a veiled insult.
But. She. Does. It. Her band and dancing is all live. The vocals not all of them. How is that insulting exactly?
He vocals are live.
Not all of them. She uses backing tracks especially on the very dance focused numbers -- there are points in the show when you can tell she's singing along not just singing. Which is fine (pop fans are fine with backing tracks because it's more about the whole experience and seeing their favorite act on stage and the dancing and sets and the fact that some of the music is not 100% live is okay especially when it ensures a more consistent experience from show to show) but it's also fine for Grohl to be like "we don't use backing tracks -- everything you hear is happening live."
It doesn't matter if she uses back tracking, her vocals are live.

Lol. No, we're really not.
Most Foo fans are chill adults in theirs 40s that grew on grunge.
We're not going to be disappointed in our of rock heros for having a little fun ragging on a pop star. I would bet 99% of Dave fans would chuckle along with him.
Have you been to one of his shows? He just shoots the sh#t, off the cuff, between songs half the time. When they were at Merriweather a few years ago, he just made fun of the maryland accent for the entire show.

The hilarious thing here is that he was making a joke about the *fact* that Swift uses backing vocals during her shows (while Foo Fighers do not and you are hearing a truly live and singular performance when you see them which is something worth bragging about -- it's awesome) but Swift and her fans are like "how DARE he insult Taylor's band.
Uh... he didn't. He knows they play live. It's possible he knows them because that's not a huge world and Grohl has been around for a long time. Foo Fighters are like his 19th or 20th band. The first Foo Fighter album was literally just Grohl recording a whole ass album by himself playing all the instruments and doing the vocals alone as a way to get through his grief after Kurt Cobain's suicide. Then he formed a band and called it the Foo Fighters. Grohl is one of the realest mofos in music and he gets to be proud of that and if he wants to make a joke about TSwift using backing vocals on Eras (which she obviously does) I Do. Not. Care. Team Dave forever. Taylor is a billionaire with a million Grammys. Somehow she'll get through this trying time.
Taylor Swift and company are master manipulators.
I always supported her despite not really liking her music. I thought she handled some of the knocks thrown at her well andwas glad she continued to find her place. I supported her until I read about the way she manipulates her life story and songs to attack various people in her life. She's willing led her rabid fans to assume some of the guys she was associated with were abusive. Someone published a time line of her songs and events in her life and showed how she used people to garner sympathy and increase sales.
Again, Taylor Swift is a master manipulator.
This is true. Do I like her songs? Yes. But who cares about breakups and stuff. I don't even know who her songs are about. Nobody else should either. But she makes sure everyone does, so like you say, that is pretty sucky and horrible. And her fans are the worst. Her fans make Philly fans look good.

Are you saying that as long as a statement is factual, it can never be insulting?
It can still be insulting but it's harder to defend against. I think the main thing here is that some people care about concerts being totally live and others are okay with some recorded elements if the overall show is spectacular. Grohl has earned the right to say "our way is better." Taylor has also earned the right to say "my way is better." But it's interesting that no is stepping up to say "actually backing tracks are awesome and better than live singing -- instead it's more like "well it's understandable that they use backing tracks because it would be unrealistic to expect someone to be belting out singing for 3 hours while doing a bunch of dance numbers and running all over a huge stage." Which is fine but lots of people think it makes for an inferior fan experience. You might not be one of them but people who go see the Foo Fighters play often are.
So sure it's an insult. But before you start crying about it ask yourself if you are really ready for this debate because I think maybe you are not.

When people say a concert is not live, it means the music is prerecorded and they lip sync.
He didn't say we don't use backing track, he said they are actually live. Well so is the Taylor Swift band and her vocals are live she is not lip syncing.

Why is TS at the peak of the music world immune from a competitive snipe?
Why?
What? Your take is that its ok for a grown man to spread a false narrative/dig about a fellow artist because the female performer at the peak of the music world?
It's just amazing how triggered the TS fans get

Dp Are you kidding? She has been swiped out for YEARS! There are a ton of people who would have loved if she failed in the past and failed now.
+1
Pretty gratifying that she is now the most successful pop star of all time. I guess that really gets under the haters’ skin.![]()
And yet, you still have the need to insult others for her.
She must have the most unaware fandom ever. “No one should put down another woman EVER.”
“How DARE you insult the queen, I must insult you!”
dp Where was the insult you speak about? Saying you get under people's skin isn't an insult. And the fact is if Taylor was a man Dave wouldn't have said anything.

Are you saying that as long as a statement is factual, it can never be insulting?
