Informed choice is a great thing. But when you have posters making up nonsense about popemobilies and security details, and posting this nonsense as fact (because it wasn't posted as a joke), then "informed choice" doesn't work and OP will be misled. OP needs to be aware, as at least one other poster and maybe two others besides me have pointed out, that there's a prolific right-wing poster on the MCPS board. Some her posts are flat-out lies, like the popemobile. And some are conservatively-formed opinions, like her frequent posts that teachers are uneducated and overpaid slackers, teacher unions are responsible for every ill in the county, et cetera. Signed, another poster who doesn't like Starr and who has no connection to MCPS besides sending my kids there (unlike the popemobile poster who is in Howard or sends her kids to private, I can't follow)
Okay!! I took the bait and read the contract and read Starr's tweets. Oy!! What are you folks in MOCO thinking? I'm as liberal as they get and I am appalled by what is going on in MCPS. It looks like the MCPS unions have pissed off the Washington Post as well. Look at this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/23/AR2010072304972.html and this: http://mceaschoolnotes.blogspot.com/2012/05/mcea-president-doug-prouty-responds-to.html and this: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/237278.page and this: http://parentscoalitionmc.blogspot.com/2012/06/montgomery-county-public-schools.html and this: http://www.mctaxpayersleague.org/ and this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/montgomery-countys-wrong-education-priorities/2012/05/24/gJQA0wOBoU_story.html ..... Personal attacks are a sign that there is nothing substantive a poster can say to rebut an opinion. The OP should read about MCPS in detail before moving to MOCO. The vitriolic postings accusing anyone who opposes the union view as right wing or Fox news watchers/conservatives belies a lack of anything useful to say y'all. Parents should learn more about MCPS before moving to MOCO. I think it is no longer a good school system ... the changing demographics prove the point.
