Just so the more average parents can see themselves reflected here, DC got their results last week and scored in the 79th percentile. Their middle school has an appeals process which we may use. DC is a terrible standardized test taker, something I need to work on. Their math grades is a 97% average in honors math 6 (our pyramid has MS in 6th grade). We did not prep for the Iowa. Their math teacher indicated DC is ready for the challenge of algebra. I agree. Older DC took Iowa during quarantine and since Algebra would have been virtual, we opted them out for another year of prep. Right decision for them. They want to pursue a STEM career, it won’t stand in their way of success taking algebra as an 8th grader. We’re only considering appealing for younger DC because this is something DC wants. Otherwise I would be fine with Algebra in 8th grade for them as well.
Not trying to be mean, but I couldn't help but find this funny.
