Legal rights and responsibilities are conferred by entering into a bindign civil contract - call it a civil union, or whatever you want. Marriage is reserved for religious institutions, and confers no legal rights, or has any effect outside that religion. If a religion wants to recognize gay marriage, great. If not, well, I guess that's their perogative. [/quote]
