I think many are hypochondriacs who don’t understand basic math or statistics or what actually supports good health (such as exercising, diet, being outside, social connections, etc) Many are fat and out of shape. They might drink alcohol regularly or be on prescription medication. This is all much more dangerous to the health of a non-elderly person than Covid. I find it strange.
Actually a lot of previously healthy people now have long Covid, and many people are also disabled from it. I'm not on social media posting about precautions, but it's frustrating when people act like Covid is nothing.
It's interesting- I personally know dozens of people who have had Covid, but I don't know a single person who has long Covid. When I hear people say that long Covid is common, I just don't see it.
Interestingly, over 50% of the people I know who had Covid have some form of long Covid. My own (previously healthy) 20 yo took 6 months after getting covid before they could play basketball for more than 10-20 mins (previously could play for 2-3 hours with no issues). 2 months after covid, if they went downstairs to their room and came back up their heart rate was over 200 for at least 5-10 mins and they looked like they'd just run a 10K, not 15 steps, as they huffed and puffed to get air. Not to mention all the reports of previously healthy under 50 year olds who are just randomly dropping dead from heart issues in the last year or more (several high profile ones in the last few weeks). Interestingly all of these people had covid in last 6 months. So just because you "don't know anyone", it is a real thing, even if you personally don't know anyone. Science and medical personnel know it's a real thing.
