I remember being a kid, about 45 years ago now, and watching folks set themselves on fire on the nightly news on a fairly regular basis, I remember watching in horror and fascination and asking my mom why these people were doing that, and my mom said they were acts of protest, self-immolation, I will never forget those images or my wonder and amazement at the courage necessary to follow through on such a thing. Such desperation, despair, or in its purest form believing the rightness of a cause so much that you are willing to make such a sacrifice. People are capable of such complexity.

Needless to say, I think this country has a massive mental health crisis on its hands. There are a lot of very messed up people running around, a bunch of pissed-off, angry rebels lacking a legitimate cause. We need something big to right this ship. I am not sure what that will be, but I do know that it can't come fast enough. [/quote]
