Would actually argue FCYBL is better league/experience - in-season (winter is basketball season), strong numbers for tryouts each year (at least for D1 teams), league schedule with standings and playoffs, strong competition but centered around geography so you don't have kids coming from hundred miles away and just seeing each other at games etc. AAU continues to be wild west - yes a handful of really good teams with good coaching - but also a plethora of questionable teams, sketchy coaches and random, unaffiliated tournaments with varying degree of talent levels.. Most of it just money grab by coaches/organizations - and most really good natural athletes (especially before high school level) are playing other sports in the spring... 5th and 6th grade still too young to specialize in just one sport (no matter what it is) - definitely see more repetitive injuries at the middle school AAU level.[/quote]
