Is having 1st child at 32 and 2nd child at 33 (almost 34) considered an older mom? One of the posters described herself as being an older mom for having her child at age 34. I would consider this the average age, neither younger or older. I know it's a matter of opinion but in regards to this discussion I'm just wondering how others are defining.
A younger mother
That might have been me....I was pregnant at 34 and had child 1 month after I turned 35. I was pregnant with the second at 37..had him one month after turning 38. I definitely think that is an older mom---though very average age in my neighborhood. Some moms my age second born is the age of my firstborn--- most moms with kids my age amour schools (preschool and K) are about the same age as me. A few outliers, but we are all very close in age. Moms who started in their 20s are practically unheard of in my parts. I am one of those that met DH at 25- but purposely waited to have kids for almost a decade. Theoretically Imay have wanted to be done at the age I had my first, but my workplace did not have work at home at that time. It started right before I got pregnant. I am glad I waited for this reason. I think there is a trend for more telework and flexibility so I think more women may start slightly earlier than woman my age did in the future.
