I’m Jewish too and we always have pallbearers. It is usually the young people, grandchildren for example.  We carry the casket into and out of wherever we hold the service and again to the graveside. If we needed help we could get help from the funeral home or cemetery. It is our obligation to do this just as it is to put the first shovel of dirt over the casket. I’m interested that you have not experienced this. Hiring out pallbearers goes completely against my understanding of the tradition. The tradition being that despite our reluctance to say goodbye, it is our duty to bury our loved one.[/quote]

I'm Jewish and helped carry my father-in-law's casket, and he was a rabbi.  I honestly had no idea Saget was Jewish until he passed away and didn't know he was a Philly boy.  RIP[/quote]
