And I was not the PP who said Blair had some of the lowest scores in the county. Looking at the chart, it scores 16 points above the county average. It should be noted that, as a magnet, Blair should have some of the highest scores in the county just like RM but it doesn't.
Huh? The mean scores for the Blair magnet itself are comparable to RMIB itself. Blair: 1531 RM: 1500 https://mbhs.edu/departments/counseling/MagnetProfile.pdf https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/schools/high-schools/r-w/rmhs/ib/2020-2021-ib_insert.pdf?usp=sharing
I meant when averaged in with the rest of the schools.
So, Blair: 1142 RM: 1201 The schools have different general populations. Blair has only 12.5% of its students in the magnet, while RM has 20%. Blair has 33% FARMS, RM has 19%.
A big difference is Blair's magnet is heavily Asian which is not part of the cohort. Further, Blair is the largest high school in MCPS so a propportionally larger percentage of its magnet are also in-boundary. The previous post was correct in stating the magnet's impact was mininal.
That’s not true, 78% of Blair’s magnet do not live IB. People conflate that most of the magnet went to Takoma middle but that is only because of its magnet program drew them in prior. Let’s not forget the whole charter of the magnet program was to raise the perception of the local school and encourage upper SES kids to self integrate a school chosen for its demographic trends. Not to enrich local kids
The magnet is less than 30% white which is the cohort being listed at 1326 SAT average. So what 25 out of boundary white kids at Blair out of the 300+ seniors who took the SAT that year?
