Whooooo Hoooooo! From WaPo: Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Tuesday said he will lift capacity limits on indoor and outdoor dining, retail businesses, fitness centers and religious establishments — the most dramatic steps taken toward reopening in the region since the winter surge in coronavirus cases. The executive order from Hogan (R), to take effect at 5 p.m. Friday, also allows large venues such as concert halls and theaters to return to 50 percent capacity and for adult day-care centers to reopen. Quarantine requirements for out-of-state travel are also being lifted.
I don't think any of this is crazy. Yeah, if it were me, I'd probably hold back for another few weeks, but we're splitting hairs at this point, and people who are concerned can wait. BUT - I DO think it's crazy to do this before opening schools. It just shows crazy misplaced priorities. I would have a lot more respect if he ordered all schools opened, with all students having the option to come 5 days a week, immediately. Get that un and running then worry about theaters!
Have you been following any of this? Hogan has been clear that he wants school open this month.
+1. He tried! But does not have the authority, it’s up to the individual BOE’s. And they are so in bed with the unions they stalled and stalled and Hogan finally said f##k it, get on with it.
