I would take Lake Michigan over the Long Island Sound. And even though I am a native NYer, I actually prefer Chicago as a city. That said, it is true that when I lived in Chicago I felt that there were not as many different things within driving distance for a day or weekend trip than when I lived in the northeast. But in terms of the attributes of the town/suburb itself, the Chicago suburbs are tough to beat. [/quote]
