I wish the best for the players but these parents are sick in the head. Just stop with the discussion of another league. We don’t need another league. That is the conclusion of many people that know more than you and I. Here is what will happen. 1. FCV closes because the parents are insane and can’t accept reality that they need to find non-ECNL league. 2. The top 1-4 players at former DA teams have a shot at making elite ECNL teams,Bethesda, McLean and MUFC. Others have a shot at the mid and lower tier teams. Everyone else will have to find a different league. Here is another reality, DA is this area was not that strong once you got past FCV. Basically you had average players whose parents bought into the asinine idea that spending a ton of money for a new league and increased travel would make their DD elite. Sorry but that is not how it works. I am sorry for what happened but it is time to move on.
#2 is laughable. Only the #1-4 players. Maybe YOUR ECNL team at YOUR age group is amazing, but it's not that way across the board, and lots of displacement can easily happen. No girl who has spent the last many years training 4-5x/week and NOT taking time off for HS soccer is going to be going to a "mid or low-level" team anywhere. Look at 04 and 05 age groups. All FCVs starters can make McLean or BRYC. All of them. Probably all 18 girls. And as someone pointed out earlier, if ECNL rosters are typically bigger than DA rosters, you are saying if the #5 rank order FCV girl could not displace the #25 ECNL girl. Not true. How many DA games in how many age groups have you watched? I wouldn't crow until it's over. The teams that remain will be better -- competition is good. But they won't be the same. Because competition is good. People who think their clubs will keep players for "loyalty" or "chemistry" are the ones sick in the head.
