My child did very well on InView, but was not identified as "gifted" at the end of 2nd because they had not assessed him as reading a year ahead of grade level. This was a shock given what I knew of his reading level, and ability to recount stories. Honestly, to this day I think they just hadn't tested him in ages. Accepted to the HGC program at the end of 3rd, and to the Humanities Magnet for middle school. He's done very well in each, so I'm guessing it was just one bum metric. So...don't panic.
