How is it being celebrated? As a PP said above, there are millions of obese people in the world, and you are seeing one on TV.  Are you saying that the mere fact of her being on TV is a celebration?[/quote]

It’s that no character addresses it as a problem. If she was addicted to drugs or alcohol, they would intervene. But according to the story it’s okay (and beautiful) to be obese. That bothers me. I just want her illness to be part of the story. [/quote]

They do address her unhappiness about her weight, her life trajectory, etc. It's just they don't fixate about it. Her mom and siblings love her, and don't want her to pile on her. Unlike you, who wants this the be the focus ALL THE TIME. [/quote]

There is more than one person replying to this subject. I'm the PP that wrote "it's that no character addresses the problem..." but I haven't written the other comments on this subject. I just want you to know there does appear to be more than one person here.[/quote]
