It would not be smart to put all of their eggs in one basket and ignore some of the best youth soccer clubs around the US. Not when U17s and U20s are struggling. Widen the net.
Ahh--got it! This is a wish from those who are pumping other alternative clubs where the "real" magic is happening. LOL Well played, but there is no magic anywhere that will make us competitive. Just time for the culture to become more favorable. No shortcuts.
No you don’t get it. This de-escalates the ECNL vs DA debate.
Howso? It would only push it back a year. The problem for DA is that if it doesn’t start at u13, girls may entrench at ECNL clubs. US Soccer wants to supplant it. That’s why the rumor makes no sense. The Hawks, PDA, etc will have nowhere else to go if they are successful.
US Soccer knows they can’t supplant it. They don’t own the clubs. Who is the girls DA champion for the 18/19s last year? That ECNL club tells the story. If you think Kater, Heinrich’s and the rest did not build DA to find the best talent but to control everything than you are lost.
As stated previously, US soccer did not build GDA so that they could scout from ECNL. They expanded to u13 age group pilots to supplant it, and they sure can, as they start to recruit the top talent to their clubs by tying it to NT spots as they have effectively done. They clearly intend for GDA to be the top tier and ECNL to be second tier and there is no reason to believe a made up rumor that they are pulling the u13 pilots. In fact, the evidence is to the opposite, that they plan to expand it to a standard age group. If you don’t believe that, then please show your evidence or reveal the source of your alleged rumor so others can do a credibility check.
