The u13 group was introduced to provide a competing pathway to ECNL and expanded this year. The evidence is contrary to the notion you say makes sense. Makes a lot more sense that the older, established ECNL stars age out and the younger kids go disproportionately DA. It will take longer, because ECNL won't go down without a fight (which is why a few clubs moved back, as you allude to), but the writing is on the wall.

You might be right on the resource front. I assumed part of shutting down the U12 boys is to save resources. Maybe there is no cost to US Soccer running U12 and U13. That would be surprising but I will take your word for it.

For the younger ages in this area the best players have not flocked to DA clubs. Since you want evidence I point to the low attendance at DA ID sessions at WS and FCV. Right now the best 07 teams are ECNL clubs. Like you said it may take time. I would not say the writing is on the wall though.

The only resources that would be saved are the scheduling and logistical arrangements for the games. Since there are only two U13 conference pilots underway now, there is not really a lot there.

As far as younger kids in this area.....not many of those will be of national team caliber. There are really few of those nationwide and they are mostly in other regions, CA, PA/NJ/NY, TX, FL. How numbers sort here is not really that big a concern for US Soccer. And the few that are of that caliber will be heavily recruited to USDA teams, and everyone knows who those players are. It's not some secret and there aren't tons and tons of them. I know folks in this area are high on the 07's, but I guarantee you no more than a handful will be NT prospects in the end, an no amount of US Soccer scouting of ECNL in the DC area will change that.

Why NCSL? Just play up on MYS ECNL U13 next year. Probably better than going to DA that is shutting your DDs age group both of the next two years. Push the decision out until U14.

You must not know mclean. The td is a royal jerk and he has power tripped these 08s before and playing up is not something supported by the club at all. It would be a good option what you say, yes, but no u12 green 08 is going to be invited to play up in ECNL next year. Not one.

WS is a good option, but if there is no WS u13 teams in 2020-21, then a player always can back and try ECNL then if good enough. And yes, I have heard they like to blacklist but the ECNL coaches are in a different zone.

US Soccer knows they can’t supplant it. They don’t own the clubs. Who is the girls DA champion for the 18/19s last year? That ECNL club tells the story.

As stated previously, US soccer did not build GDA so that they could scout from ECNL. They expanded to u13 age group pilots to supplant it, and they sure can, as they start to recruit the top talent to their clubs by tying it to NT spots as they have effectively done. They clearly intend for GDA to be the top tier and ECNL to be second tier and there is no reason to believe a made up rumor that they are pulling the u13 pilots. In fact, the evidence is to the opposite, that they plan to expand it to a standard age group.

If you don’t believe that, then please show your evidence or reveal the source of your alleged rumor so others can do a credibility check.
