I didn't say they did. But on average, the recruited athlete at UW has a much higher threshold for admissions than just about any school in the P5 except Stanford, Northwestern and maybe Vanderbilt. Despite that, the department has maintained a level of excellence in certain sports including the income generating football, Men's basketball and women's hockey and volleyball.[/quote]

Who cares about the higher SATs when Maryland is ranked lower than Wisconsin and it just simply not considered to be in the same realm from a reputation standpoint?  And even more, what do the old national championships in football and basketball have to do with anything?  Wisconsin has been more successful than Maryland in both sports more recently, particularly football.  So please, go sit in your living room in your Under Armour underwear and watch the muppets and the weather on the Jumbotron and stop hijacking this thread.  No one on this thread but you is interested in talking about Maryland.         [/quote]
