I think you are confusing your markets.
Women are always in control of the “low attachment sex” market. (This is because men’s biologically higher sex drive and will NEVER change)
But that’s different from “dating”!!
Men, especially older, have the upper hand in the “dating” market.

The dating market automatically includes sex, whereas low-attachment sex does NOT infer dating. 
In this way, an older man can easily “date” his way into sex, while the older woman can’t always sex her way into dating.

I'm a 62 year old man and I spend the winter in Florida where I am outnumbered something like 3:1 with women my age range. Many of these women encourage sex almost upon meeting as a way to start dating. It's really bizarre but with so few men around I guess it's understandable although very sad. After a few months of enjoying myself I realized that I could never really be interested in someone that desperate. I finally met a wonderful woman who played hard to get and I was thrilled!
