Why not?  It works for cars.  It would stem the flow of millions of guns that move around without paperwork with so many of them ending up in the hands of criminals.  Yes, criminals would still have guns from before registration (and cops are continually taking these guns off the streets) but they won't be as easily able to get guns afterward.[/quote]
