Doesn't it seem suspicious to any of you that Gerry would allegedly balk at a woman's 10 lbs of weight, when his wife was not a skinny mini? And his daughters aren't skinny either? I mean, we don't know what is real or not, but that part of the story doesn't ring true to me. I don't think you can be as "sensitive" as Gerry presents on GB and be freaked out about 10 lbs. As for the rest of it, who knows. Part of a story can be true, while the context can be misleading. Maybe he did expect the person (if it happened at all) to pay a portion of the mortgage. Maybe he said "let's split the expenses..." I don't know. But, I don't take this dirt as truth until there is more proof. There have been other "stories" about Gerry that have been disproved. Like he had an affair at work and he's an alcoholic. Neither of which were true. So, just b/c someone says X and some media reports it, doesn't mean it is all true. It's generally a good idea to hold off on judgment until you hear both sides or see actual proof.
My guess is that it was more than 10 pounds, and that it was a sensitive issue for him because his wife had gained so much weight (and was formerly skinny) and he didn't like it.
Re: class reunion -- isn't it plausible that the scenario was that the girlfriend assumed she'd be going to Gerry's HS reunion, and whatever their conversation (Girlfriend: do you think I should wear this?), Gerry felt uncomfortable taking her to his HS reunion where EVERYONE would know his late wife Toni (because they were HS sweethearts), and every conversation would involve Gerry explaining his relationship with the girlfriend, and Gerry said "well, to tell you the truth, I don't know if you should go to the reunion with me." Girlfriend could see it as a rejection/judgment of her status in the relationship, and explain it to herself as his judgment on her weight. But, to me, it rings more true that he wouldn't want her to attend with him because all of the people there were his and Toni's friends, and he just wasn't ready to publicize the girlfriend there. See, a lot of situation can be told in a way that Gerry is a total dick or totally neutral. The guy talks like big bird, and is super sensitive. I have a hard time believing that he just flat out told her she was 10 lbs too fat to be seen with.
