As a Christian it is still really disappointing to realize that her Christian phase was just the grift du jour. It’s taken me a long time to accept that she’s not a Christ follower. I’m not being judgmental - I try to never determine someone’s heart when it comes to this. You say you love Jesus, I believe you. End of. But Jesus says we judge other self-proclaimed believers by their fruit. And the fruits of the spirit are charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity. I just don’t see those. I gave her the benefit of the doubt for so long that I feel like a fool. The Jesus Jen loves is one she’s made in her own image. I guess I’m naive. But, it stings.
Yeah, it’s super sad. The Christian faith is a beautiful and often fragile thing. To think that there are so many people out there willing to use it to make money and get fame posing as Christians is so so depressing. Hillsong, prosperity gospel frauds, the Hatmakers and their ilk, all of them. These wolves in sheep’s clothing. Fame and money and the approval of man is us their true devotion. Never Christ.
