No one is trying to save the restaurant industry. They are trying to save commercial real estate from collapsing all at once. Go look back at the PTO article. If CRE collapses, more banks will fail. The fallout has the potential to be fast and furious and you are very, very naive if you don’t think it will impact you or your 529s. [/quote]

It IS the job of the federal government to preserve financial stability in the economy.  This is the federal government using levers that they have to pull.  It is not at all different than agencies choosing where to open field offices in order to boost the economy in that area.  It has been happening for 100 years.
