there are obese people with myopia, who do not want to attribute any responsibility to themselves for that obesity. They want to blame it on someone else - a parent and an upbringing and say in the face of education that it can't help them. This is not because it can't help them, but because they don't want to make the change. It's like an addiction. [/quote]

In a sense, not only does judging people make people feel superior, but it makes them feel safe. “[i]I’m[/i] make smart choices, [i]I’m[/i] never going to lose control of my body.” It’s a way to create a sense of safety about something that terrifies them. It’s the same compulsion that drives people to judge and blame rape victims. If someone is sure that they’re never going to do that, if remaining thing is an easy equation, it will never happen to them. [/quote]
