Our agent told us we needed to pick that along with structural options so we went with the cosmo (it was part of the options list). You can always change it out…probably will be cheaper anyways. The 16k primo the models have can be purchased and installed for less than half the price after you close.
I really hope you are right. They told me it was not possible to change later because it is structural change in the house
It’s a gas fireplace…don’t see why it can’t be changed after moving in…the gas line is already there. We had a log burning fireplace changed to a gas insert fireplace in our previous home, so swapping one gas fireplace for another shouldn’t be a problem (though will require moderate labor to redo the wall).
I loathe the look of cosmo fireplaces so admittedly this isn’t a big issue for me, but we did upgrade the mantle and picked the marble-y surround. In the short-term I plan on painting the mantle navy one we move in and put a pretty fireplace screen (I actually bought it already, it’s a antique gold bamboo style) in front of the fireplace to dress it up a bit. But yes, as others have said, because it’s gas, lots of options down the road.
Good to know.. will research how to make ours look modern as well.. thanks
