I think Teddi bringing up something that happened 3 months prior was ridiculous. As an accountability coach, doesn't she believe that people change, grow, move on. That's seems to be what happened with Dorit and Rinna. I do feel bad the way Erika snapped at her. She has a problem with her for some reason. She made her feel uncomfortable in Vegas, at Teddis house and then the other night. Not cool and I generally like Erika. But preying on someone like Teddi is not cool.
I think Erika has a chip on her shoulder around Teddi because someone introduced her as Mellencamp's daughter and she is worried that she's judged as not a "real" musician or rock star or performer or what-have-you in comparison. It's not fair but I think that Erika has a lot of chips on her shoulder in general and having exponentially more wealth than most of these incredibly materialistic women makes it easier for her to act normally, until she enters a situation where she's afraid she'll be judged on other merits (this thing with Teddi; the "I know I'm the idiot in this room" performance at the publishing office). I also generally like Erika, but she is not at her best when her temper is up -- the thing with losing her shit at Eileen about her son being a cop last year comes to mind.
I think Erika has a chip on her shoulder period and Teddi is exactly the one (unintentionally) to make her feel uncomfortably aware of who she really is - a bought and paid for white-trash trophy wife. Teddi was born to a famous musician, born to money, fame, celebrity and she is very natural and comfortable with herself. Teddi has no pretensions. Erika is nothing but pretensions. Its a fascinating juxtaposition to watch but I do feel for Teddi. She doesn't mean to make Erika so aware of her trashiness and low class origins.
Agreed. It takes a "team" and a glam squad to make Erika a performer--she's a fine dancer, but not a great one; she can hit a note, but she has a nasally voice; she probably couldn't write a song (or a book) to save her life. Anyone who can hit a note can be packaged and produced enough to sound as good as Erika Jayne. Anyone who is remotely flexible, has rhythm and is in shape can be glam squadded up to star in that kind of video. I'm not saying she's not accomplished--she pursued her dreams, and she...essentially...bought them. And good for her! Not everyone can do what she did, that's a fact. But it didn't take much talent. Here's what John Mellencamp needs to be a performer: a guitar and a mic. That's true talent, and true genius.
