I have a friend whom I have known since Kindergarten. He was a boy growing up and a woman since she was 18 (we are 40s now). When she started to transition, it was not a surprise because there was always something unusual (but we didn't know back in the 70s-80s) about her. She is my friend and I care about her regardless of what sex/gender she is! I feel sorry for people who are transgendered. I know they face hateful people who really ignorant. Think about it... why would anyone chose to be a social pariah by a large swath of the population? It is also something that has been seen in every culture through out time.
Yep. I thought the brief explanation about the hormonal development in fetuses was interesting. There are variations in nearly every other facet of development , it makes sense that some relatively small portion of the population would end up with a variant where the hormones in the brain don't match the genitalia.
