As an older parent of several older children, one already out of the house, I can honestly say that those many, many long (and often stressful) years of child rearing - reveling with them in their joys, comforting them in their disappointments, caring for them in sickness, playing and sharing leisure and vacations them in health - felt like one protracted act of birthing.  When my oldest earned their admissions to colleges, it was a moment to celebrate and share that news with others, sort of like a birth announcement.  So no, I think that parents, in raising their children those many years, have earned the right to shout their joy from the rooftops, and proclaim it with ringing endorsements from the church rafters, if that is what they want.[/quote]

Precisely!  And on that note:  DS got into University of Florida.  I am not sure he will end up going there, it was his safety school but I am still very much proud of him.  [/quote]
