If you have any kind of allergies, sleeping on the basement floor is a legitimate health concern.  Never mind the fact that no one I know would be able to get a decent night's sleep, at all. For an entire week?  Or two? One would be bad enough.  In addition, is this your only vacation time, OP?  Is this how you want to spend it?

If you're accommodations involve staying in a flooded, moldy basement you say - "No thank you".  You do understand that "basements" in the OBX are not underground but merely first level and that not all first levels have been previously flooded?[/quote]
