Nah. I’m in wealthy area with less than 5% farms and pulled my DC out of public to go to cheap religious private. DC is learning the 3 Rs instead of how to tap and swipe. [/quote]

Can’t speak for other districts but the problem with MCPS is that there are literally no county wide standards for tech use. There aren’t even uniform standards within a given school! It’s essentially up to the teacher. Some teachers are incredible and rely very little on Chromebooks. At the other extreme are those who just take advantage of the availability of tech and plop their students on it for 6 hours a day. In those cases if kids finish their work early they often end up just playing games or streaming videos during classroom time…And then there are myriad teachers somewhere in between, who probably still have their kids on screens cumulatively for a few hours a day. As a parent you have no control, no say, and it’s luck of the draw which type of classroom your kiddo ends up in.

While plenty of private schools overuse tech, there is at least more transparency and consistency. You can seek out those schools that are more “tech lite,” and will at least have a sense of predictability as to how much time your kid will actually be on a device. [/quote]
