Bread - you can freeze it. [/quote] MIL kept bananas in the fridge. Bread, too. Lots of veggies last a long time. Beets. Brussesls sprouts. Dried beans last what seems like forever. Cabbage. My parents were iced in for a week--no power. Could not even walk outside. Roads impassable. (This was the South) Full freezer and gas stove. Sat in the kitchen with water boiling on the stove and ate very well. Otherwise, pretty miserable.[/quote]
