I am interested to see if the demographics of Sela even closely resemble DC's demographics is all. Just a thought.
I suspect that they will reflect DC in terms of cultural background, but as all of the DCUM bullies have continually pointed out when throwing mud at some of the higher performing charters, their is likely self-selection in terms of not sending SN kids to immersion, and lower SES not choosing to send their kids to school in upper Northwest and/or immersion settings. I can tell you that more than few Appleseed parents are applying to Sela (along with other charters) - and the ones that I know are middle class/professional AAs.
There is some self selection in not sending SN kids into immersion but most schools have main entry at prek3 and prek4, so many kids are not diagnosed until they are already in the immersion school. I can tell you that there are SN kids with IEPs at every immersion school in DC. The self selection for immersion schools occur more for ESOL so these resources usually end up being used for the SN kids at least at the immersion charter my SN kid attends.
