Other parents choose to en-fluent their kids in languages of the folks who own the plantations and of the folks who decide if the plantations will get bank-financing and crop insurance or not. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, until I actually looked for evidence of "fabrications and exaggerated claims" and they simply don't exist. So, while I am loathe to conjure up my own conspiracy theories (aka your cabal of boosters canard), I think there is some wacky anti-charter or anti-Sela, or anti-Jewish element at play here and it's very sad. I take it very personally when people opine on what the children of DC want or need, since this usually a cloaked referenced to black children, and we have a multi-racial home. I welcome Sela and any other bilingual opportunity for my children.

It's in Takoma, DC - like a block from NW and on the border with Takoma Park, MD....and about 5 minutes from SS. So, depending on where you sit....that's pretty much upper NW. However, it's very close to Brookland, Fort Totten, etc., so it's pretty accessible for being so close to Maryland. I think it's pretty cool that they got a long-term home off the bat. It bears noting, however, that upper NW itself is fully of high SES African Americans along the "Gold Coast" of 16th, for example.
